What’s new

What’s new in Hato.

The big versions, and the most important things in each.

Hato 0.6 · October 2026

Conversations, your hours and the dark, all the way.

  • Conversations: every thread reads like a chat, newest on top, and you fold what you’ve read.
  • Attachments under every email, with thumbnails and Quick Look. And forward, attachments included.
  • Select several at once and act on all of them, with Undo in every notice.
  • Notifications only from the people you choose and the threads you follow, your mail hours and a weekly disconnect.
  • Dark emails and pure black, if you want them, both in Settings → Appearance.
  • The official icon, also in the Dock, and one-key shortcuts for every screen.
  • Private senders, its own screen; the name of each screen, at the top; and a quiet strip when there’s a new version.

Hato 0.5 · October 2026

The first public beta.

  • The Guardian: whoever writes to you for the first time waits at the door until you decide.
  • Inbox, News and Bills, and three piles for what’s pending: Reply later, Set aside and Following.
  • All caught up: with nothing new, Hato pecks away at the top and what you’ve read stays below.
  • Subscriptions, private mode, search as you type and shortcuts for everything.
  • Agents: Claude sums up your day and leaves you drafts, always with your permission.
  • Light and dark, with Hato white in both, and nine icons for the app.
  • Each beta works for 90 days, and anonymous statistics you can turn off in Settings.
